Hanukkah is a celebration of light, warmth, and good deeds. This year, the Riga Jewish Community is launching a charitable campaign, "Hanukkah Miracle: Light and Warmth in Every Home", to support 100 families across Latvia.
For many families, winter is not only about cold weather but also the challenge of paying utility bills. Through this initiative, we aim to help cover heating and electricity costs so these families can enjoy the winter holidays in comfort and warmth.

Our client Sonia has faced such a situation. Her vision is fading, and with each passing day, it becomes harder to see the world around her.
"Home Care" is an expensive program, but its impact on the quality of life of each of our clients cannot be underestimated. Our staff helps achieve the things that cannot be done alone. We need 3000 euros a month for our clients to get this much needed support.
Each of The Social Centre members has a unique story and a challenging destiny. The programme "Lunch at Home" is a special support programme for those who, due to their mental or physical health, are unable to supply themselves with lunch. The programme requires a constant and significant amount of funding. With the generous support of our partners, we already have most of the money needed to help the programme members in 2022. But we need your support to raise the missing €8,400 to provide daily meals for 13 people throughout this year.
Artjoms is a cheerful boy with a difficult fate. He lives with a genetic disease, neurofibromatosis type I, against which the boy has various health and developmental problems. Artjoms has a speech impairment, epilepsy and aortic stenosis. At the age of 8 the boy needs regular rehabilitation and different specialized trainings, which takes a big part of the family budget.
The Memory Preservation Project was created by the “Hesed” Social Centre of the Riga Jewish Community to help its clients retain control over their cognitive skills for longer. As part of the project, trainers provide individual sessions with clients. With your support we would like to raise 4000 euros to purchase learning and development materials for more than 100 clients of the centre. Together, we will help people to enjoy life and remember!
Hundreds of collapsed tombstones and ruined burial places are in dire need of refurbishment at the New Jewish Cemetery in Smerli. Restoring a single memorial by strengthening its foundations costs 200 euros. Our goal is to raise 2000 euros to renovate 10 burial sites and preserve the memory and historical significance of our ancestors!
Hanukkah is a time of miracles, light and good deeds. This holiday season, we would like to bring light and warmth into the houses of 400 families, assisted by the Welfare Centre. In the everyday sense, light and warmth are electricity and heating. With 20 000 € collected, we can help 400 families to pay their winter utility bills.
